First of all I have to say that I'm so glad that NieNie is posting again, she is such an inspiration! I had a chance to read some of the blogs I keep up with (just a few of the latest ones) using the internet booth at the centre. I really am missing the regular internet connection and I suppose too the feeling that u are connected somehow to all the people in the blog world, someone somewhere out there is going through the same things that you have/ are or will go through and that makes you feel a little less alone. I am starting to save up for a laptop, I really need it if I'm going to continue with this job...I'm so frustrated at the moment with two of the new girls, Sabrina and Claire. They have had so much support from us and Justin has been really side by side coaching and they just aren't picking it up. I get that it's a huge learning curve but step up already! Tegan and I picked it up...you work hard listen and apply, fairly straight forward for anyone with common sense. I guess a lot of this job is just people skills and some people have trouble with that but even so I've been teaching them body language tricks that help others feel at ease even if the girls are not comfortable with themselves yet. It's just not sticking and I feel like my eyes are getting a good workout from all the rolling they have been doing lately. We're driving to Cairns tomorrow after work and I'm told that this particular trip at this time of year takes about four hours so shouldn't be too much of a stretch. I have tuesday off so I'm hoping to totally veg out, check out Cairns a bit and then the next week go snorkelling out on the reef. Can't wait. That's by far the awesomest part odf this job, the travelling: I'm getting a taster test, a littlew sample of all these places basically for free! If the girls can't get the act together in Cairns though I'm out of here. I usually have patience and staying power in jobs but for this kind of thing which isn't really my chosen field, I can compromise with a few things.
Funny story: Justin and I were laughing about this one all day... Claire went out last night in her words " just for walk and some dinner" this was about half past five. We all go to bed, me the last at about 11. Still not home. Wake up in the morning, she has gotten into the house half an hour previously. The story was she got home at about 2.30am after searching the neighborhood for the right street. She didn't take keys, lost her mobile and so was knocking to no avail (no surprise there) at that hour. So she ended up sleeping on the front porch with head on the outside furniture. Lost mobile phone, lost tooth, lost house. How very bogan. To top it off she got sunburnt on one side from being draped over the patio chairs. What a circus. Anyways when we get to work I notice that she has one eye looking normal (if a little red) and the other totally made up with mascara and glitter and heavy eyeshadow. Gol-ly! Now you know what I'm dealing with. Feel free to send any sympathy my way...
