Bone marrow and movie extras

This morning I took mum into the Mater Medical Centre which is basically a day hospital. She had to get a bone marrow biopsy. The nurse prepped her, drew lots of blood, at which point I had to put my head on my knees as it was making me feel whoupy. I've never been good with blood. Usually it's just my own blood that I have an issue with but today the nurse had the IV in and it was just dripping out all over the place. Oo-er. So they took out two samples. I was allowed into the room after the procedure where they had elevated the bed so that Mum's feet were sticking in the air. She looked so small and fragile in that bed with the side cages on it. Her blood pressure is normally low but was frighteningly so afterwards. So she slept and I read my Terry Pratchett book.

Back to normal now after the heavy sedation and just have to make sure she doesn't sign any legal documents in the next 24 hours or operate heavy machinary. Her earlier surgery which left an incision mark on her neck has brought out her corny sense of humour and since I have heard her remarking, to anyone who will listen, about how "now she's a Tasmanian with the scar to prove it." (From where the second head was removed, you see.) Moving right along...

Just got a call back from one of the jobs I applied for online: shock of all shocks! I had flippantly sent my resume into a company that was searching for TV/ movie extras. They actually called me. Interesting to say the very least. It makes me wonder what the heck they are shooting in Brisbane of all places. It's not like it's South Hollywood. Just have to see how it pans out...I got time!
