Mundo Churrasco
Last night a bunch of us went to a new Brazilian restaurant in Bardon at Roxy's recommendation. It was delicious. The whole feel of the restaurant was so bright and happy, red walls and lots of wrought iron fixtures. We sat on a long table by the kitchen so we could see the meat browning on the racks. It's basically a buffet where you don't have to get out of your seat. You get your own set of mini tongs and the waiters bring along about 10 different types of meat and cut it by your plate. They had a whole bunch of little bowls of salad with mustard (v. tasty) a salty seasoning with black beans to put on your meat and a tangy salsa. Stuff just keeps arriving...vegies, rice with chunks of meat, little cheese bread muffins, beer battered yam (well some kind of white root vegetable anyway.) And the meat! So much of it: lamb, pork, rump, chicken, Brazilian sausage and even chicken heart! I did try that last one, feeling adventurous...tastes just like regular meat but the aftertaste is very strong.
Andre and Roxy also ordered a drink which is the national drink made from cachaça (alcohol made from sugarcane) with lime and sugar. Very refreshing. We all had a taste. We lucked out with the night, choosing the time when some very talented musicians were performing live. Yemanja is the name of the group, Anita with a clear, sweet voice and guitarist Eddie very talented and fun. Check their sound here.
It was a very fun evening, highly recommended for anyone who's in the area, visiting the area or wants to move to the area! :o)
