Yesterday morning I spent waiting for the better part of an hour at the blood test place with mum. I thought it would be extra fun to do it all over again this morning when I was sent by my doctor to get a blood test (grinding teeth.) There is only one lady there who does the whole extraction of blood thing but she's also the receptionist, the payments officer etc. AND she likes to chat for ages to old people. There were only two people before me when I walked in so I'm thinking "sweet! I'll be out of here in 15 minutes..." haha, yeah right! At this point I'll illustrate for you how my blood tests have gone in the past; nurse pokes me with huge needle, I feel the blood draining out of me, feel extremely sickened, turn into casper and proceed to faint, or come reasonable close to fainting. This is all accompanied by heavy breathing and sometimes cold sweats. I have no problem with needles, just a problem with needles that take out my blood.

Now for the happy part of this post: yesterday after mum's blood test and my doc appt, I was actually feeling good and motivated to do something for a change so we headed into the GOMA ( Gallery of Modern Art) for the Asia Pacific Triennial Exhibition. Loved it, absolutely loved it.

This painting was huge, like two stories huge and had such amazing texture to it that I adored it immediately.

The one on the right is a nuclear mushroom cloud made out of various pots and pans etc.

This was a taxidermy moose but it was covered in glass and resin spheres of various sizes in a bright white room. The whole ceiling was a florescent light and it just drew your attention into the centrepiece. The balls of glass distorted and magnified parts of the moose, you could look through one and see the hairs blown up to a size to appear as large as straw. I think this was all about how we view things, the point of this not actually being the moose but how we see it.

Take that Steve Vai! This one isn't actually playable though.

This room was full of cords hanging from the ceiling, starting off quite short and then lengthening as you walk through. Weird tickling feeling as you progress further in, taking away a few of your senses.

This spanned from the ceiling of the fifth floor to the first floor, A4 pages all bull clipped together, cool effect huh?

So our time was well spent wandering through this amazing new space. This is the newish art gallery right on the river next to the State Library. Finally Brisbane is getting some culture!
