retro obsession

Time for a bit of a backlog post. I had Tuesday as my day off and dragged mum along with me op-shopping for company. We hit a large life-line store and scored big! First I found a manual typewriter hidden on a shelf in the furniture section. Next surprise was me just browsing through heaps of stuff piled on rusty metal shelving. There it was, a thing of beauty, sitting so inconspicuously there: an old record player. I have been searching for one since I came back from the states and now I have one. We tested it out in the store because I wanted to make sure it was fixable (at least to me.) The turntable worked but the automatic arm only works sometimes so I just have to put the needle on the record myself. Sound comes out very softly but I have to connect some speakers manually which involves soldering.

I'll have to get dad to look at it or someone who is more electronically minded. I'm so stoked to get it going, it's going to be michael jackson's thriller album making the debut playing! The typewriter works but I haven't tried it out properly yet so it may need a new ribbon or something. Can't wait. I'm going to be typing letters out to everyone soon, watch out! I love receiving letters, they are so much more wholesome to hold physical evidence in your hand that someone has thought of you. It's tangible and real.

Lisa has asked me if I want to come down to Lismore and live with her down there. I really, really want to but as you can imagine am not excited about the whole getting a job process. I just don't know what there is to offer for employment options down there, if there would be much on the plate. It's just that I love the job but hate the way the company deals with us, it's like they don't value their employees. It would seem that they don't realise the importance of keeping staff happy. Happy workers equals better results. That's the most basic lesson in business you would think. Ah not to worry. When I quit I'll tell them why. Any suggestions as to what I should do? I should mention at this point that the next location on the Qld circuit is the Whitsundays.
