ATM antics

My new favourite hobby while lunching is sitting at the donut king seats next to the ATM. Today as I reinforced my new habit of buying a caesar salad from coles for lunch I plonked myself down by the money machine. I didn't realise just how amusing it would be. First a very large lady tried inserting her card on the wrong side...then upside down...then finally the right way all the while shouting at the thin wrinkled man right next to her that it wasn't working properly. She was wearing one of those dresses that had a floral pattern and draped mercilessly over her huge frame. I don't know where women of this age manage to find this type of dress. I would have deemed it long out of any fashion circulation. Maybe they gather for tea and have a clothing swap.

The next guy had a tanned, Italian look about him, lots of hair everywhere except the balding spot on his head. He had trouble locating which slot to put his card into and generally looked puzzled for quite some time before hitching up his already high pants and walking away without any cash. Another two old ducks had settled down on the chairs right by the ATM and were watching and waiting while it was being used quickly and successfully by a middle aged woman. The younger of the two then went confidently to the ATM, spurred on by the victory of the previous user. She completed both the transaction for her mother, and then herself remarking about 5 times through this sequence just how many questions "this machine" had asked from her. "Just so many questions!" "More questions than I've ever been asked!"

Definitely high lunchtime entertainment.
