OC Days (part two)

Friday 24th: Beach Tour

As previously posted, we visited a lot of beaches. We stayed for more than a moment at two beaches, the first of which being Corona Del Mar. There we found a little cove where the water was calm and there were mini caves in the rocks behind. After testing the water and finding it to be ridiculous-to-swim-in Degrees Celsius, we warmed up in the sun before getting up to our knees in the water. I felt the real reason for not wanting to brave the icicle water (aside from the obvious) was that there were no inspirational waves. So we walked around to the other side which wasn't so sheltered and I jumped in full pelt. I didn't last long but I have to say, I pride myself in getting in at all. The Pacific is so fickle.

Sam took me to lunch at the first Ruby's on the pier where the first heat of a yacht race to Mexico was just starting. There were people everywhere! Famous person sighted: Bryan Jennings, some surfer dude apparently.

Our last beach visit for the day was Laguna. Mostly we just lay in the sun and ate the remaining fairy floss (that's cotton candy for you northern americans.) We walked around the rocks in my silly gladiator shoes, which kept falling off, to another beach and then back to the car. Once changed and decent again, we got some amazing gelato and headed to a park bench to watch the waves. This seemed like a good idea as we had seen the mother of all waves while we were at the traffic lights. Yes, it had been the mother of all waves...all others that followed were babies. One-off freak wave I guess.
