City Raid

 Checkpoint Sofa
My latest adventure was a rather exhausting one from which my unfit body took a while to recover from. This year Delle and I participated in the Brisbane City Raid. This is kinda like the Amazing Race in that it's an adventure race around the city with checkpoints, activites and a variety of things to collect. It lasts for about 3 hours from 6.30pm to 9.30pm most of which you are frantically running (or gasping for breath) around finding checkpoints, hearing catcalls of "RUN, Forrest, RUN!" and dancing Saturday Night Fever Style for a few extra points. Our team went for superhero symbols on our shirts...Super Susie and DareDevil Delle and Rach and Matt's team (Clowning Around) had some pretty flamboyant wigs on.

The Dance Class before us breaking down some MC Hammer moves.

Our Photobooth 'Out There' Challenge

Sitting on a curbside couch at one of the checkpoints

So we did a wrestling challenge, collected a gentlemen's club flyer, bought a pint of guiness (for which we lost the receipt- still a sore point) applied a fake tattoo, searched every tree in Wickham park in the dark, found a guy wearing skull and crossbones shirt on a train, ran through dark alleys, got called a miner while wearing a headlamp (that was Delle) and searched through a clothing catalogue looking for a brass monkey...

Delle's unhealthy obsession with lamp posts came in handy when one challenge was to find a checkpoint based on a photo (which of course had a recognisable lamp post in it.)

The winners of the night were a male team who scored 1240 points out of a possible 1390 (which is freaking crazy.) They were both limping onto the stage to accept their win.
