My love affair with Angus Stone

It's your pretty standard one-sided love affair, as happens with well-known artists worldwide. I like to believe that I'm not on a particularly large bandwagon just yet with this one. If you haven't heard of this man or his partnership with his sister Julia, it's time to start checking it out already. His sultry voice, easy music and that beard. He's made facial hair popular and that's not just with Movember approaching...

...in other music news, the brother Sam being home has had the house's seams busting with music. While he's waiting for his Canadian visa he's basically just sleeping, learning the hardest possible version of claire de lune by ear and running. It's good now that he's learning a new section- was wanting to kill the composer at one point. He's been obsessed with this one song by My Morning Jacket. It's been on rotation for the last week and a half. I got it on my ipad and put it on a loop all day to rid myself of loving it but it has stood the test. I'm still showing it to everyone I can. I do like it when music holds up under the repeat test- Radiohead In Rainbows was in my car for three months so ultimately it's the winner in this circumstance.
I had an incredible weekend- or rather I am having an incredible weekend...for once it seems to be lasting a long time. On Friday arv, Bonny, Laura and I drove on out to Pittsworth for a "bonfire, music and dumb games- like old times" night. There were about 30-40 people all up. There was endless boxes of pizza, a jumping castle, testosterone filled men/boys wrestling and doing aerobatics off trampoline and onto said jumping castle. Guitars, drumkit and microphones were set up on the balcony and floodlights set up on the roof. Outside time was effectively over when someone put a can of something explosive on the fire. Granted it was spectacular and loud but I sure am glad they cleared us right out of the area first- the girls and I were getting stuff out of our car about 20 metres away and big ember chunks landed at our feet.

Most of us ended up staying up until about 4am, before pulling up a piece of carpet, or mattress if you got in early. Had a solid 2 hour sleep before people were up springing around bright and happy. Chucked around the footy, got a game of volleyball set up before the hot early morning sun forced everyone inside. We left and got back to Brissy about 1.30ish. Nick had mentioned a free hip-hop dance thing at the river stage so we tagged along with him, Mark and Sam. Baydon turned up later too after walking a few k's from the wrong footbridge!
