Eyes Tightly Shut

It occurs to me that I've become more aware of hazardous human error in the course of driving a car. It's probably because I am now dealing with the getting to work traffic that seems to be filled with meatheads behind the wheel of each unnecessary four wheel drive. This latest incident saw me sneezing three times (as seems usual) and helplessly watching a cement truck looming as it turned into my path so very slowly. I tryed to keep my eyes open as I sneezed, anyone who has tryed this knows that it's quite impossible. Seeing as Australian government seems to be the "nanny government" maybe they should start with a whole new ad campaign to cushion us from every possible danger that could occur while driving...

A new habit has been formed from my new work schedule that is going to send me broke at an alarming rate. I now get up at 6 am and leave the house at 7.15am to catch the 7.33 train. I am not one of those girls that will need all this time to get ready...it is a rare occasion when I endevour to straighten or curl my hair. Now I spend any extra time on the internet searching for things I don't need and lusting after just about every item in etsy's geekery section. Morning time is when I have no rationality and it's that much easier to click on the buy now button. Instant gratification in it's most convenient form. The thing that is most disturbing/ fantastic is that I will  probably forget exactly what I have bought and have that fresh surprise and delight when items arrive a few weeks later. It's like when you go shpping for a whole day and upson arriving home, purchases are unloaded from bags and paraded in front of family/ flatmates. Just like that but stretched out and therefore all the more gratifying.

Have I mentioned that I work in a pretty amazing place? Yes, when I say accounting firm many would imagine this:

You would not jump to yoga during lunchbreaks, Bosnian cake for morning tea, making cartoon characters of the CEO and hanging them up around the office and Friday night at a comedy club...but that is what happens. These last couple of months we have been welcoming new people galore-myself included. This means we have an almost endless supply of welcome morning teas and birthday cakes. It's surprising the rest of the firm isn't morbidly obese if this is the norm.

In other news, my brother Sam is back from the snow season down south. He and Candy arrived on Wednesday while I was at work but left to return at 11.17pm. I let them in to be greeted with the motherlode of Krispy Kreme donuts. Good to have him home for a bit, he's going to be flying to Canada to stick out the winter in Ferny.

Here are a few things that made me smile this week...

Binoculars at the ballet.

An iphone in someones boot...for safekeeping?

"No shirt Mondays were our fun days" - signage outside The Shearing Shed barber shop. Not sure what kind of clientelle they are trying to attract...

I'll leave you with that, enough reading for one day.
