Sugar High (and then some...!)

After a full day and night of heavy pouring rain, I spent the morning prepping and painting the dining/ kitchen. By the arv I was happy to tag along with my country cousin to the Ekka. It was made so much less of a sacrifice by the much appreciated free pass on loan from Delle. After breezing through the line and waiting for Jodi to get her ticket, I leant back and watched all the many weird and wonderful people walk by. I had forgotten my camera. How had this major oversight come to be? A mecca for carnis and country bumpkins alike all high on the spirit of fairy floss and no one to document this accepted frivolity! It's the only time of the year grown men can walk around with teddys half their size and teenagers can carry around giant blow up bats, sporting all manner of headwear. It's obvious that you will never again wear that purple willy wonka top hat but you just HAD to have it. I even felt the pull toward a large stuffed Stewie...

Luckily I found another source of documentation: camera phone. Excellent. As a result I was able to capture things at a different level, very subtle snapping crowds when you can be veddy, veddy sneaky. Enough rabble...

The swings: my absolute favourite ride as a kid and made even better here by jacking it up with the clouds...fairytale flying!
I love that his sunnies match the theme of the ride he's standing by

Waiting for business...
You can be sure we forked out the dinero for this one...
The BEST (I kid you not) strawberry sundae *internal anatomy to follow

Jodi's "Christmas in my mouth" organic strawberry donut.

We saw an alarming increase in this fashion trend...dressing identically to your friends. Whatever lights your candle, at least there won't be any cat fights when they accidentally turn up wearing the same thing.
In line with the feeling of Ekka week, this chicky wore plenty of colours and patterns but maybe didn't think so much about the overall layout...

We were only there for a few hours, which was surely enough. Despite being a bit muddy from the torrential downpour from the last 24hrs, the crowds came out with the sun. Got two showbags, fairy floss, two huge glasses of lemonade (actual old school lemonade) and am on the downward curve of a sugar overdose.
