Sun Sand Surf and Sunburn

For a change I have been actually out and about. Monday was Bonnys day off so I headed down to her turf on the Gold Coast, all set for a day on the beach and in the sun. Unfortunately it looked pretty grim when I was driving down, spattering rain most of the way. We decided to cook her mum a birthday cake (the same chocolate one I cooked for my mother) while it was still drabby and overcast. Once that was complete (it is always quicker with two) the sun had come out so we headed down to Kirra to soak some of it up. The ride was accompanied by me bursting out in "The sun will come out...TODAY!" in all hopefulness that it actually would. So we baked our bodies on the white sand and went for a swim in the choppy, dirty water (from the recent rain.) There was a huge sweep and Bonny accidentally lost her favourite sunnies. Well, who actually loses their sunnies on purpose? 


Afterward we caught up with these four Canadian guys for lunch: Lee, Jayden, Thomas and Brett. They all seemed to be allergic to shirts...no complaints here! We made a stirfry and then chucked the footy around (that is the gridiron footy.) I am forever grateful for Sam teaching me how to throw it properly so I (hardly ever) look like a fool! We then went down to the beach for a swim and had a game of gridiron, 3 on 3. It was so funny because they take it so seriously, mapping out plays, where to run etc. Good fun though, some fabulous tackles for the boys (we were strictly touch.) It was great to just hang out with guys again, I really miss just how easy it is. Made me miss Canada so much too, especially because they knew people I knew la la la. Very cool. I got burnt, as always, but it turned into tan overnight so I am quite pleased with myself. Unfortunately I was participating with everything and didn't have time to even click one pic. You'll just have to believe it was that good!
