Well folks, I finally made it to Townsville and am very weary from the days driving so will have to make it short and sweet before I fall asleep with my teeth whitening strips in my mouth... Today we travelled from Rocky to a brief detour at Airlie Beach. It was DIVINE! So incredibly gorgeous, like all those posters that you see in travel stores with the palm trees and the turquoise waters. It was a sunny hot day, perfect for strolling around with our cameras. Zita and Meagan, the two photographers that I work with, naturally have some pretty amazing camera gear so they were probably able to capture the panorama much better than I did, but I did alright with my canon.
Finally made it this evening to Townsville, or as Kraig informs me, the Cairns rivals refer to as 'brownsville' for the obvious reason of how dry, brown and crispy everything gets here in winter. Nevermind that it rains for two months straight in the wet season! Anyway I have been elected as the sneezing queen of the household, my nose is running, I'm just not used to the dry air I guess. Very promptly after I arrived, Kraig whisked me off for a grand tour of the city, saw the strand, the waterfront and also went up to castle hill which is this huge crag of rock that's smack bang in the middle of things. We went up to view the layout of the city, it's super spread out for a town of it's size. Hope that I get a chance to explore it a bit; or at least see some more of it in daylight.
Onward and forward, tomorrow is our first day in the stockland mall so we have to set up the studio etc in the morning, an earlier start. Both girls are leaving the company within the next two weeks so hopefully I'll be getting some good team members to help spread out the load a bit more, it's tough with breaks and whatnot at the moment. Time for bed before I start typing things in my sleep...
