splendour in the grass...

Last night we had two visitors arrive after hours, much to the general delight and peace-shattering of the household. These guests would be none other than my brother Sam and one of his friends Thommo (whose name is actually Andrew) They got straight into it, thumping out on the piano and dancing around. Sam arrived in a very cool hat (I thought) but Thommo repeatedly called it his hat made out of gay man's chaps. Needless to say he was wearing a beaver Canadian hat, so who's to judge, really?

Mum was well and truly exhausted and probably not up for Sam's rambunctiousness but Andrew seemed to calm him down, or at least rein him in with insults when he was being an idiot. They are heading down to Splendour in the Grass, a music festival down at Byron. Wish I was going, there's an awesome lineup. I particularly would like to see Josh Pyke perform, I love his album Memories and Dust, (which I framed at my old job as a shop display.) His latest CD, Chimney's Afire has been getting burnt out in my player.

As you can see in these pics, Sam has cut off his dreads which, though I was getting used to and secretly liked, am kinda glad that he has normal hair again. He's out there enough just being him. This morning he came out with these BRIGHT red skinny jeans on. I cannot describe the horror. It was great to laugh though. He maintained the emo theme by putting these babies on...so much for being a hippie...

Sam and Thommo came down in the van which is half owned by Sam (who shares a car?) Anyways it has a queen sized mattress in the back and enough power in the two 45kg batteries to power the lights and AC power for about 4 days. I think they got the batteries off a loader or a digger in the mines. Geez. Of course it has got the token Aussie flag in one of the back windows. He just bought a car, a seriously dad car, an old gold merc. It even has sheepskin seat covers on it. Dadmobile!

In the meantime, I've been very faithfully watering the tomato plants hoping they'll perk up soon. Here's a picture of the little labels I made out of an icecream lid. Cute!
