Working Class Woman

So I started my very first day of work today. Meant to start tomorrow but well, what can I say, guess they just had to have me a day early! Anyways all went well, you'll be pleased to know. Starting the day by finding the jobs for the week and measuring them all up for mats and frames etc. I spent the morning doing that and then was sent out the front with the art supplies to learn how to do sales etc and familiarise myself with the supplies. I enjoy the people that work there. Today there were four others. Adam, the boss-man is really nice guy but didn't see much of him all day. Mark who I will be working with out the back in production. He's probably in his mid to late 20s and reminds me so much of Dylan Moran...his hair sticks up in random chunks and he's left a few days of stubble to add to the scruffiness. It's kind of cute, I must say. Denena is the retail girl, essentially in charge of the store part of things. She's originally from a small town near Clifton I think. Out that way anyways. She's a bit rough around the edges but is always ready for a laugh. Rosemary is an older lady from England and she's a design consultant in the framing section of the store.

It's all very interesting being in a totally different environment anyway. Just learning all the systems they have in place is going to be a huge learning curve. I was wincing all day though with the materials they use, and the techniques like GLUING a canvas to and MDF board. ARRRGGGH! Acidic, acidic, acidic! It makes me wanna cry...

Mark is new also and he talked to me about implementing some changes in the systems- there is way too much handling and the tools are all over the shop. So hopefully together we'll be able to find a way where everything can work a little more effeciently.

Anyway, enough shop talk.
