cages

I feel trapped. Trapped in my own life. Even when I was living in Canada I still felt controlled. Money is the imprisoner; lack of money, the cage. Money frees up my time and allows me to stop trading it to someone else. That's what we're doing. We are all doing it. We are all bartering our lives away so that we might have a semblance of a life. We cannot truly appreciate all that there is to learn and discover because we are caged by that which can also set us free.

Time opens doors that only we can walk through. We choose. We are a world choosing to gamble our time away to someone or something that doesn't enhance our lives. In such a trade we convince ourselves that we receive something of value, a measley sum. I value myself higher than $18 per hour. Everyone's time is worth far more than we are being paid for it. We relinquish our right to be with our loved ones, to see children laugh and grow up, to confide in friends and to encourage one another. We have elected to have this taken away from us. It is of our free will that we all do this, daily!

Time is to be cherished because it is short. We have but a limited supply and none on this earth knows just how much. I have neglected the things that need time spent on them and chosen instead the cages. No more.
