almost 22...

I had planned to write this post precisely as the clock ticked past that 12 o'clock mark. It would be a great symbolic gesture to write a post on the very eve of my birthday but I can't wait that long. Tomorrow I am going to find a place where I can get a colourful, cheerful bunch of balloons to release. By far, that is the best tradition that I've come across- thanks NieNie! Turning 22 is such a strange thing for me. I guess it's because everyone makes such a big deal about 18 (legal drinking age etc) then there's 20 ( no longer a teenager) and 21 is such a big deal too (for no apparent reason except it probably used to be the legal drinking age) So 22 feels like a bit of a where do I go from here? age. I almost forgot it was coming, which came as such a shock to me because I used to love my birthday! So, it's made me kind of reflect on birthdays past, when in the weeks (or even months) beforehand I'd hang a wishlist of things that I sincerely hoped to get on the fridge. Mum gave us the option of picking our favourite meal which she would make for us on the night of our birthdays ( both my brother and I are June babies.)

In the morning I would wake up excited to see what had been left at the bottom of the bed. Oh what glorious presents! It was always exciting to rip the paper away with such enthusiasm! I hate it when I see people as they get older, they get careful. Present unwrapping is one of my pet peeves when I see someone unwrapping a gift, taking care not to tear the sticky tape off or rip the paper. Usually this is followed by the wrapping being carefully folded up! FOLDED UP! I mean, what are you going to do with it afterwards? Reuse it for someone else?! I feel like shaking them and saying "just rip into it!" We have a lot to learn from kids.

Anyways I thought I would have little fun of my own this year and make up an impromtu wishlist for my birthday. Here goes:

1. Hot Shoes from Urban Outfitters (size 7.5 US)

2. Lamborghini Murcielago

3. Homespun Throw from Anthropologie

4. Lots of hanging light bulbs

5. Skydiving

6. European Tour

7. A passionate kiss

8. Chillax music

9. Time with a close friend

I ask for but a little...

  1. I love that throw from Anthro! I wish I could crochet... (but not enough to try!)

Also the light bulb installation is wicked!

Very modest requests I think. Hope you got the shoes at least!
