Last year for the F111's (no, really...I swear...)

Here are some photos of Brisbane's Riverfire celebration which kicked off the Brisbane Festival. For all you non-local yokels, this is fireworks show off bridges, barges and some of the taller city buildings. For a long time it has been tradition for the F111 Fighter Jets to do a low flyover and 'dump and burn' where they dump a huge amount of fuel out the back and it lights up in a fireball and follows the jet in a streak of burning orange. Last year was meant to be the last year for this exercise as the jets are well past retirement age and have been replaced in the airforce. But until they figure out the next cool thing to appease us, they were apparently "back by popular demand" this year. About 500 000 people crammed themselves into various vantage points along the river to watch the fanfare. Unfortunately I forgot my camera and Jess and Travis Morrison have kindly allowed me to post some of their shots here for you.
