is there such a thing as true discovery?

I'm finding it hard to find any kind of subject matter that is worthy to be posted (and I still haven't) but seeing as I've been forcing my friends to start and write on blogs, I better get on it myself. I've realised of late, that I'm a bit of a packrat. I love collections; this I can blame partly on my art teacher who encouraged me to collect anything and everything and partly my grandmother, who did collect anything and everything.

Unfortunately, one of the things she didn't collect was vinyls. Thanks to my handy brother Sam, my record player is now up and running, dodgy speakers and all- but it works! So excited about this...I only have about 15 records to start with so I'm going to have to hit the op shops pretty hard to extend my collection. I refuse (at this stage) to pay the ridiculous prices in records exchange stores just because everyone else suddenly thinks vintage is cool. I'm just glad I bought up my Michael Jackson record before he died, now the two bucks I payed for it is worth a lot more. I loathe it when "people" (yes, I'm going to use it again) just follow something when it comes across their awareness. The example of this is me loving Michael Jackson since my first roommate introduced me to his awesomeness, being ridiculed because of this. Now that he's no longer of this world everyone seems to have forgiven and embraced his music once again. I guess it takes effort to go out and seek music that noone has heard of, to see art that is showcased in unusual places and nontraditional manner. Get out and discover is harder to do than you think. It makes me uncomfortable but the reward of finding something, somewhere that you can relate to is worth it.

This is my happy song for the moment, love these guys they're totally into their music, it's so free! Thanks, hip-ster-krit for bringing these guys into my consciousness!
